"The depth of Silverman's lyricism is rare in such a young player" – (New York City Jazz Record)

At the age of 25, Raphael Silverman has already become one of the most compelling young voices on the jazz guitar. A protégé of the legendary guitarist Bobby Broom (NYC/Chicago), and graduate of Columbia University, he is a core member of the bands of two former Art Blakey Jazz Messengers, trumpeter Philip Harper and vocalist/pianist Johnny O'Neal. He stays busy backing music greats like Eric Alexander, Dan Nimmer, Peter Washington, and Billy Drummond, as well as cultural figures such as A$AP Rocky and Dave Chappelle.

Leading his own trio across the landscape of New York City, he exercises a modern voice frequenting the Blue Note, Smalls, Mezzrow, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Minton's Playhouse, and other mainstay venues. A winner of awards from DownBeat Magazine and the Jarek Śmietana International Jazz Guitar Competition, his music honors the roots of this music while charting new & swinging directions.

Presented by The Jazz Purveyor.
